About Me

I grew up in Kinsman, Ohio, a small rural community in Northeastern Ohio just north of Youngstown. My parents, Bill and Linda both work in the local community and have served the community in various capacities through the volunteer fire and ambulance service and as trustees. By profession, my father is a nurse at St. Joseph's in Warren, Ohio and my mother is a teacher in the Joseph Badger Local School District.  I have two sisters, Katelyn, a nurse, who is currently pursuing a degree as a nurse practitioner at Kent State Univeristy, and  Ashley, a middle school science teacher at Canton Perry, where she also coaches Cross Country and Track.  I graduated from Badger High School in June of 2007 as valedictorian and accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. I graduated 19th of 1012 graduates in the great Class of 2011. At Navy, I attained a Bachelors of Science in Political Science with Honors and commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy (Surface Warfare Officer). I am currently an MPHIL candidate at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, where I am studying Development Studies (Institutional, Sociological, and Economic Development). This opportunity was made possible by the generosity of Mr. John Nolan and his wife Joan and the support of Rotary District 6650 in Northeastern Ohio. Upon conclusion of two-years of graduate education, I will report to the USS Fort McHenry, a dock landing ship utilized in amphibious operations.
